Turtles

Turtles are in the order Testudines or Chelonii they are characterized by a bony or cartilaginous shell developed from their ribs and it acts as protection from predators. Turtles can be fresh water or sea water types and the earliest members are believed to date back 220 million years ago. Turtles are reptiles and ecototherms meaning they must regulate there body temperature using abiotic factors ( mostly sun*) Turtles are a special type of reptile and one that needs our help. They are becoming extinct faster then any other reptile. Due to habitat loss and being taken out of the wild many species of turtles are threatened and will become endangered and eventually extinct. Please look at my link page and see what others are doing. I keep a a few species of turtles at the moment. I have three toed box turtles, Eastern Box turtles, and I have giant mexican musk turtles. Those are all I keep at the moment as far as turtles. Please feel free to check out the sub pages of my box turtles. I put photos and Keep them as up to date as possible.
